The Frater Lady’s Mantle is derived from the Alchemilla Vulgaris, a herbaceous perennial that grows in abundance in the Northern Hemisphere. Featuring in herbal medicines since the 15th century, when it was used to treat wounds on the battlefield, it is highly effective at stemming both internal and external bleeding thanks to its high tannin content which causes an astringent action.
So powerful that it was named ‘Our Lady’s Mantle’ by the Christian Church, Lady’s Mantle is highly successful in the treatment of common female ailments such as menstrual pain, menopausal problems, vaginal discharges and infections, so much so, that it established a reputation as ‘a woman’s best friend’. It has also proved useful in the treatment of diarrhoea and can be used as a mouthwash to soothe sore throats and mouth ulcers.
